ABOUT FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

Dr. Barry Berkowitz, the President of Berkowitz Acquisitions, is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Florida. Through his corporate and entrepreneurial experience, he gained expertise to specialize in mergers and acquisitions in the fields of Technology, Manufacturing, Education and Healthcare Businesses, both locally and nationally, as well as internationally. As a result of his education and experience, he has earned the prestigious title of Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) from the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA), as well as title of Mergers and Acquisitions Master Intermediary (M&AMI) from the M&A Source. The CBI and M&A designations are awarded by the IBBA and M&A Source, respectively, to their members that have met stringent educational requirements and ethical standards. The IBBA is the largest international, non-profit association operating exclusively for the benefit of individuals and firms engaged in business brokerage. The M&A Source is a sister organization of the IBBA whose professionals operate in the M&A lower-middle market. Successful completion of the CBI and M&AMI certification process significantly distinguishes M&A professionals within their field

In 2014, Barry received the honor of Fellow of the IBBA in recognition of his professionalism, achievements, and service to the industry. Barry also received the designation of Fellow of the M&A Source. In 2015, Barry was honored to receive the Tom West Award (for outstanding communication and promotion of the goals and ethics of business intermediary profession). In 2017, Barry was elected to the IBBA Board of Governors as the Chairman of their Affiliates Council. From 2017 through 2019 Barry served as Chair of Education. He served on Board of Governors of the IBBA from 2016 through 2021 and was appointed as the Chair of the IBBA for 2020. He has also served as an officer of Business Brokers of Florida.

During the early part of his career, Dr. Berkowitz was a scientist and then a corporate manager with Exxon. He published extensively and holds several patents. Dr. Berkowitz received his B.E.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Engineering and Materials Sciences from Stony Brook University. He previously served as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the New Jersey Entrepreneurs Forum, sponsored by the NJ State Office on Science and Technology. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of various businesses.
